Birthday concert of symphonic orchestra Russkaya Filarmonia: Music of passion and love
The Russian Philharmonic orchestra decided to celebrate its birthday on the main stage of Russia – at the State Kremlin Palace! This evening the glorified ensemble will present the audience with a fantastic gift – the concert Music of Passion and Love, full of feelings and emotions, with large-scale video projections.
On March 21, 2017 the audience can expect the masterly performance of Scheherazade by N. Rimsky-Korsakov, M. Ravel's Bolero, the intermezzo from the Wedding of Luis Alonzo zarzuela by Gerónimo Giménez, ritual dance of fire from the Love, the Magician ballet by Manuel de Falla, Danzon No. 2 by Arturo Márquez, Libertango by Astor Piazzolla. The conductor is Dmitry Yurovsky.
The bewitching Oriental fairy tale of Scheherazade is one of the most known instrumental works of Rimsky-Korsakov. Sultan Shahriar, convinced of insidiousness and disloyalty of women, pledged to execute each of his wives after the first night, but beautiful Scheherazade, teetering on the brink of love and death, for one thousand and one night was telling her terrible master magic fairy tales. Incited by curiosity, Shahriar constantly postponed her execution and, at last, absolutely dropped his intention. The impression of this work will be strengthened by the colourful dynamic images: beautiful Scheherazade, furious Shahriar, seductive Oriental dancers, royal hunting, storm at sea and many others. This multimedia project of the Russian Philharmonic with the use of innovative technologies was prepared for the anniversary of the orchestra.
Bolero is one of the most performed works not only by Ravel, but also in all symphonic music of the 20th century. The hypnotic impact on the listeners is created by the repeating rhythmic figure against the background of which the emotional pressure increases, and the dynamics reaches a grandiose sounding. Boleros is considered an orchestration miracle. Popularity of this composition has no borders.
Fiery, emotional melodies and rhythms of Spain, Mexico and Argentina create the atmosphere of a real Spanish wedding, a colourful Latin American carnival and, of course, the Tango – the dance of life and death, love and hatred, fire and ice.
The only major symphonic orchestra of the Government of Moscow has deservedly won love of Russians and is a well-known musical brand abroad. Various programs from classics to rock, multimedia projects, high professionalism of musicians and strong power of concerts never leave indifferent anyone from the thousands of listeners of all ages. Such world stars have worked with the orchestra as: Roberto Alagna, Paata Burchuladze, Maxim Vengerov, Montserrat Caballé, Kiri Te Kanawa, José Carreras, Sergej Krylov, José Cura, Nikolai Lugansky, Denis Matsuev, Dmitri Hvorostovsky and many others. Since 2011 the chief conductor of the Russian Philharmonic is Dmitry Yurovsky.
